(吉隆坡11日訊)瑞士總檢察長麥克勞柏說,瑞士願意歸還與一馬發展公司(1MDB)有關的資金,因為這是非法或被盜的資產。

他說,他昨天與大馬財政部長林冠英會面時,就商量了歸還一馬資金的事項。

“我們不會保留這些非法或被盜的資產,讓自己變得更富裕。”

但他說,一旦進入刑事訴訟,一切就會以法治優先,才會進行退回資金的程序。

“在進入第二步程序時,我們才能通過法律義務將資金歸還。”

麥克勞柏昨天與林冠英和總檢察長湯米湯姆斯會面,商討調查一馬發展公司案件後,向媒體這麼指出。

他說,他此趟訪馬是為了商討兩國針對一馬發展公司案件的合作調查事項。

“我們商討如何具體規劃後續步驟、確定優先進行的事項,並提供不同法律制度的最新觀點。”

麥克勞柏說,瑞士早在2015年就與多國合作調查一馬公司,包括美國、新加坡和盧森堡。

“我們也曾在2016年嘗試與馬來西亞合作,但當時的總檢察長拒絕與我們合作。”

他指出,目前有6人被調查,兩家瑞士銀行涉嫌參與。

 

Switzerland agrees to return 1MDB funds  Michael Lauber: Will not take it for ourself

KUALA LUMPUR 11 July 2018: Swiss Attorney General Michael Lauber said that Switzerland is willing to return funds related to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) because it is an illegal or stolen asset.

He said that when he met with Malaysian Finance Minister Lin Guan Eng yesterday, he discussed the matter of returning 1MDB stolen funds.

“We will not keep these illegal or stolen assets and make ourselves richer.”

However, he said that once it enters criminal proceedings, everything will be given priority by the rule of law, and the process of returning funds will be carried out.

“When we enter the second step, we can return the funds through legal obligations.”

Michael Lauber met with Lin Guan Eng and Attorney General Tommy Thomas yesterday to discuss the case of 1MDB and pointed out to the media.

He said that his visit to Malaysia was to discuss the cooperation investigation of the two countries in the case of 1MDB.

“We discuss how to specifically plan the next steps, identify priorities, and provide an up-to-date view of different legal systems.”

Michael Lauber said that Switzerland has been investigating with a number of countries in 2015, including the United States, Singapore and Luxembourg.

“We also tried to cooperate with Malaysia in 2016, but the then Attorney General refused to cooperate with us.”

He pointed out that six people have been investigated and two Swiss banks are suspected of participating.That two Swiss banks are Falcon Private Bank and BSI SA
